Introduction to Computer Science, Computer And its Component

Before I jump into the details, have you ever considered how difficult it was to carry out tasks prior to the invention of the computer? Yes, it is extremely complicated —— In this article, I will explain everything you need to know about computer science and the various components that comprise a computer😎.

Nowadays, many tasks are easily completed with the assistance of a computer; computers has enabled us to do amazing things such as electronic commerce, global communication, online banking, and so on.

What is Computer Science??

The study of computers, including their theoretical and practical foundations, hardware, and software is known as computer science. It is the use of hardware and software to solve problems.

Computer science is the application of algorithms and data structures, computer and network design, data and information process modeling, and artificial intelligence. Because computer science has some mathematical and engineering roots, it incorporates techniques from areas such as probability and statistics and electronic circuit design. Computer science encompasses a wide range of disciplines, including artificial intelligence, data science, software engineering, system engineering, and many others.

General Concept of A Computer And Its Component

What is a computer ?

A-Diagrammatic-Representation-of-Computer-System-13-History-of-Computer-The-computer-as.png A computer is an electronic machine/device that receives user input (raw fact), processes data (raw fact) according to set instructions, outputs the processed data (information), and temporarily or permanently stores the data.

In other words, It is a programmable electronic device that accepts data, performs specified mathematical and logical operations at high speed, and outputs the results. A computer cannot perform any function unless its components are present.

There are two major types of computer components

  • Hardware Component
  • Software Component

Hardware Component : A computer Hardware Component can be defined as the physical component that made up a computer system. As the name implies “HARD” touchable components are coupled together to form an electronic device. Processors, monitors, keyboards, and mice are a few examples.

Software Component : A computer software component is a collection of executable code written in a high or low-level programming language, such as Facebook, Twitter, or Gmail. Computer software can also be defined as a collection of programs or a set of instructions given to a computer to perform a specific task.

Computer Software Components consist of

  • System Software
  • Application Software

System software and application software are the two types of software. It can be perplexing if you've never heard those terms before, but I'm sure you're already familiar with a variety of system and application software – you just don't know what the terms mean. The purpose and design of system software and application software differ.

System Software: System software is defined as a bridge between the user and the computer (a system cannot start without system software, and application software cannot be installed without system software). It acts as the administrator and manages the system resources. System software includes operating systems such as Microsoft Windows, Linux, and Mac.

In a like manner, think of the hardware as the body and the system software as the mind or soul — It operates the body.

Application Software: Application software is a concept that allows a user to perform a specific task; it is software written in a high-level language such as Fortran, Java, QBasic, Visual Basic, or C++. In addition, application software runs on an operating system created by system software. Facebook, Visual Studio Code, Microsoft Word, Twitter, and browsers are examples of application software that add value to system software.

Furthermore, In other for both types of computer software to work in the best interests of the user, the system software is required to run the hardware and run applications on it. If one is missing, the other is rendered ineffective.

What is the biggest lie anyone can tell? "I have read and agreed to all the terms and conditions." 🤣By clicking the likes, sharing, and leaving a comment, you agree to all of the terms and conditions.
